Jashne Azadi Polo Tournament Concludes in Gilgit with Great Success Alert

The Azadi Polo Tournament, organized by the Department of Tourism, Sports and Culture Gilgit-Baltistan, concluded in Gilgit with great enthusiasm and excellent management. The final match at the historic Shahi Polo Ground saw Team Chilas defeat Team Skardu 8–5 to win the championship trophy. Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Abrar Ahmed Mirza attended as Chief Guest, while Major General Imtiaz Hussain Gilani was the Guest of Honor.

Key Progress Made in Preparations for Tour de Khunjerab Cycling Event 2026 🚴‍♂️ Alert

Preparations are underway in Islamabad for the upcoming Tour de Khunjerab 2026, one of Pakistan’s most prestigious high-altitude cycling events. Secretary Tourism, Sports and Culture Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Faisal Ahsan Pirzada, met with Mr. Haroon, General Secretary of the Pakistan Cycling Federation, to review organizational plans.

It was decided that the federation will conduct a technical assessment and submit a detailed proposal to the department within a week. The race, last held in 2019, was discontinued due to administrative reasons but has now been reinstated in the annual calendar by the Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism Department, which is committed to its revival.

The event will be jointly organized by the department and the Pakistan Cycling Federation, with participation expected from both national and international cyclists. Recognized as one of the world’s highest and most challenging cycling competitions, Tour de Khunjerab promotes both sports and tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Gilgit-Baltistan Showcases Tourism Potential at ITB Berlin 2026 Alert

The Department of Tourism, Sports and Culture Gilgit-Baltistan participated in ITB Berlin 2026, held in Berlin from 3–5 March, one of the world’s largest travel and tourism exhibitions with participants from nearly 180 countries. The department joined the Pakistan Pavilion through the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation to promote the region’s tourism potential.

Led by Secretary Tourism Faisal Ahsan Pirzada and Director Tourism and Culture Iqbal Hussain, the delegation showcased Gilgit-Baltistan’s landscapes, cultural heritage, and adventure tourism opportunities and met with international tour operators, tourism organizations, and investors.

The participation is expected to increase international awareness of Gilgit-Baltistan, attract more foreign tourists, and support the region’s socio-economic development.
