Jashan-e-Azadi Gilgit-Baltistan Polo Tournament

The Jashan-e-Azadi Gilgit-Baltistan Polo Tournament is celebrated annually in connection with the Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan, observed on 1 November. To mark this historic occasion, a multi-day polo tournament is organized from 15 October to 1 November, featuring a series of competitive matches.

The tournament brings together various civil and departmental polo teams, showcasing the region’s traditional freestyle polo, known for its speed, strength, and fearless style of play. Matches are primarily held at the Aga Khan Shahi Polo Ground, Gilgit.

The final match of the Civil Pool is played at the Aga Khan Shahi Polo Ground, Gilgit, while the final match of the Departmental Pool is held at the Wahab Shaheed Army Polo Ground, Jutial, Gilgit. The event reflects the cultural heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan and serves as a vibrant celebration of freedom, tradition, and sporting excellence.
