Jashan-e-Azadi Polo Tournament 2025 – Gilgit (Civil Team) Concludes in Grand Style
The Jashan-e-Azadi Polo Tournament, organized by the Tourism, Sports & Culture Department, Gilgit-Baltistan, concluded in a spectacular and highly professional manner in Gilgit. The event was marked by excellent organization, vibrant public participation, and strong inter-departmental coordination.
The successful execution of the tournament was made possible through the dedicated efforts of security institutions, the district administration, polo associations, media representatives, and all stakeholders who contributed wholeheartedly to the event’s smooth conduct.
Thrilling Final at Shahi Polo Ground
The grand final of the Civil Team category was played between Team Chilas and Team Skardu at the historic Shahi Polo Ground. In an exciting and high-intensity match, Team Chilas defeated Team Skardu with a score of 8–5, claiming the championship trophy.
The final match was graced by the presence of Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Abrar Ahmed Mirza, as the Chief Guest, while Major General Imtiaz Hussain Gillani attended as the Guest of Honor. Secretary Tourism, Sports & Culture Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Zameer Abbas, presented departmental shields to the distinguished guests in recognition of their presence and support.

Best Polo Player of the Tournament: Ifrad Gul
Best Horse Award: Awarded to the horse of Skardu’s polo player Imtiaz Babu
District Security Officer: Cash prize for outstanding services
SDPO Mr. Murtaza: Departmental shield for exemplary security arrangements provided by the police
Bomb Disposal Squad, Rescue 1122 & Health Department: Cash prizes in recognition of their excellent services and emergency preparedness
