How to Reach Fairy Meadows

Reaching Fairy Meadows is an unforgettable journey that combines road adventure, jeep rides, and trekking, rewarding every traveler with views that are simply unmatched.

1. By Air (From Islamabad)

Islamabad to Gilgit (by PIA✈️):

Several daily flights operate between Islamabad International Airport and Gilgit Airport, taking around 1 hour.

From Gilgit, drive about 80 km (2–3 hours) along the Karakoram Highway (KKH) to Raikot Bridge, the main entry point to Fairy Meadows.

Route: Islamabad → Gilgit (Flight) → Raikot Bridge → Tattu Village → Fairy Meadows.

Islamabad to Skardu (by PIA or Air Bluel):

Flights to Skardu Airport also take about 1 hour. From Skardu, tourists can reach Raikot Bridge via Jaglot, approximately 5–6 hours by road.

Route: Islamabad → Skardu (Flight) → Jaglot → Raikot Bridge → Tattu Village → Fairy Meadows.

Note: Mountain flights depend on weather conditions. Always confirm flight status in advance and keep an extra day as buffer.

2. By Road

Islamabad to Gilgit (by road):

Distance – roughly 540 km, taking 10–12 hours via the Karakoram Highway (KKH).

Route: Islamabad → Abbottabad → Mansehra → Balakot → Naran → Babusar Top → Chilas → Raikot Bridge.

From Raikot Bridge, a 12 km jeep ride leads to Tattu Village, followed by a 2–3 hour scenic trek to Fairy Meadows.

Important: The Raikot–Tattu jeep road is one of the most adventurous and steep mountain tracks in the world. Only local jeep drivers are allowed to operate here for safety.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Fairy Meadows is May to September, when the meadows are lush, the skies are clear, and the snow peaks of Nanga Parbat shine in full glory. From October to April, the area receives heavy snowfall and remains closed to tourists.
