- 2000 - Tourism Cell established in P&D Department GB under PM’s Directive
- 2005 - Tourism, Sports and Culture Department GB was notified
- 2006 - Directorate of Tourism & District Tourism Offices established
- 2007 - Gilgit Baltistan Sports Board was established
- 2011 - Archaeology & Museums devolved to GB Government under 8th Amendment
